My unconventional path to journalism began in Shanghai, where I moved after college and lived for four years. Experiences in China as a cooking apprentice, food writer, documentary host, talk show panelist, and video producer taught me just how much I have yet to learn.

I then made my way to New York, not far from the suburbs of my Long Island upbringing but a container for every distant nation. Here, my interest in exploration led me to create a The Dig, a series about neighborhood gems for CBS New York. Shot using my phone, episodes introduce local characters from a locksmith to a pet portrait painter. The Dig helps inspire viewers to explore their neighborhood. But more than that, its stories unfold into intimate portraits that reveal our common humanity.

After five years on The Dig, I’m getting to know my neighbors in a new way since becoming CBS New York’s multi-skilled journalist covering Queens. As a community reporter, I’m passionate about telling human stories that bring people together.
